Trainer Robert Heathcote has made a new appointment to his stable recently. It happens to be South African Born Jarred Coetzee - appointed as the new Training Partner and Racing Manager for the stable.
Coetzee, originally from South Africa, got his first experience leading Heathcote's team during the Stradbroke Handicap meeting at Eagle Farm in June.
A nephew of former champion South African jockey Felix Coetzee, who achieved numerous Group 1 victories in Hong Kong including on the Great Silent Witness and son of finer trainer Kevin, Jarred brings extensive experience to the table.
“I spent four or five years working as a foreman and riding work for Chris Waller, and I also rode track work in Hong Kong,” Coetzee said.
“I even spent a year training in China for the China Horse Club before making the move to Australia.”
Coetzee relocated to Queensland in April after spending five years with Ballarat trainer Henry Dwyer, who recently secured a Group 1 win with Asfoora in the King Charles Stakes at Royal Ascot.
