In a dramatic showdown in the Breeders' Cup Challenge race, the Haskell, Mindframe did everything to lose the Monmouth Park Grade 1 as DORNOCH took the win in a repeat of the Belmont finish.
The odds-on favorite, was beaten after looking a winner around the final bend as DORNOCH emerged victorious in a captivating finish that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The race unfolded with DORNOCH setting a measured pace, closely followed by Timberlake. Mindframe, initially in fourth position, made his move as the field as he approached the bend. Sea Streak trailed behind, unable to make significant progress.
As the horses rounded the turn, Mindframe, with Irad Ortiz in the saddle, made a bold bid by charging wide. Despite the impressive effort, DORNOCH, who had been maintaining a steady pace along the inside, refused to give up and fought back after being headed whilst on his lead. He fought tenaciously along the rail, while Mindframe veered towards the middle of the track, inadvertently costing himself crucial momentum.
DORNOCH, the Belmont winner, showcased his resilience and racing prowess once again. His performance in the Haskell reaffirmed his status as a formidable competitor, echoing the intense battle between the two horses in their previous encounter. In the end, DORNOCH's steadfast determination secured him the victory, leaving Mindframe to settle for second place.
Danny Gargan trained the colt with Luis Saez in the saddle again. DORNOCH gets an automatic slot in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
