Champion 2-year-old filly Mrs Geriatrix has made a triumphant return to form by winning the KZN Breeders Mile. The talented filly had been off form since November last year and had not secured a win since her debut victory as a 3-year-old over White Pearl. Despite a series of respectable performances, including a Graded race campaign in Cape Town, she had not lived up to her usual high standards.

The KZN Breeders Mile, a non-black type event, provided Mrs Geriatrix the perfect opportunity to regain her winning stride. She seized the chance, delivering a strong performance despite tough competition from Prince Of Taranto. Rated 20 points below Mrs Geriatrix, the 6-year-old Prince Of Taranto ran an impressive race, finishing less than a length behind.

Jockey Richard Fourie expertly guided Mrs Geriatrix, who had a comfortable finish. Early in the race, Sig of Fate took the lead with Hiawatha Goldberg close behind. Mrs Geriatrix surged in the final 400 meters, showcasing her speed and determination to cross the line first. Although Prince Of Taranto finished strongly, he couldn't match the younger filly's pace.
