CLASH OF GENERATIONS IN ECLIPSE

In anticipation of Saturday's Coral-Eclipse at Sandown, a clash of generations looms large between City Of Troy and White Birch. City Of Troy, fresh off his Derby triumph, faces older competitors for the first time, aiming to join an esteemed list of horses who've claimed both Epsom and Eclipse victories. Trainer Aidan O'Brien fields a formidable quartet including Luxembourg and Continuous.

Challenging City Of Troy is the impressive four-year-old White Birch, who skipped Royal Ascot but has shone this season, notably winning the Tattersalls Gold Cup. Also in contention are French 2,000 Guineas runner-up Dancing Gemini and Ghostwriter, both looking to make their mark. Jayarebe and Stay Alert add depth to the field following solid Royal Ascot performances.

With City Of Troy favored at 6/10, and White Birch at 4/1,

Here's a summary of each:

Al Riffa: A Group 1 winner as a juvenile, representing Ireland in the race.

Continuous: Last year's St Leger winner, trained by Aidan O'Brien.

Hans Andersen: Another entry from Aidan O'Brien's stable.

Luxembourg: Also trained by Aidan O'Brien, a contender in the field.

White Birch: Trained by John Murphy, known for recent strong performances including a victory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Stay Alert: Trained by Hughie Morrison, potential for a rapid return following a fifth-place finish at the Pretty Polly Stakes.

City Of Troy: The standout, brilliant Derby winner last month, facing older rivals for the first time in his career.

Dancing Gemini: French 2,000 Guineas runner-up, dropping back in distance after a sixth-place Derby finish.

Ghostwriter: Fourth in both the 2,000 Guineas and Prix du Jockey Club, owned by Jeff Smith.

Jayarebe: Trained by Brian Meehan, winner of the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot.

See The Fire: A filly also owned by Jeff Smith, engaged in the race.
