Highlands Farm stand the very exciting young sire Jackson (Dynasty), whose first yearlings will go on sale in 2017.
Bred by Highlands, Jackson was the top lot sold at the 2010 Emperors Palace National Two Year Old Sale when he was knocked down for R1 000 000.Sent into training with Brett Crawford, Jackson was unraced at two, but wasted little time in stamping his authority on the track as a three-year-old. The handsome colt won five of his eight outings as a sophomore, winning all of the Gr1 Investec Cape Derby, Gr1 Daily News 2000 and Listed Politician Stakes, to stamp himself as one of the top racehorses of his generation.Jackson was particularly impressive when victorious in the 2012 Gr1 Investec Cape Derby, where he left subsequent dual Horse of The Year Variety Club (Var), among others, in his wake.He trained on well to land the Gr1 Champions Cup as a four-year-old, and was also twice second in the Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.
Jackson retired to Highlands, having won six times and earned over R2.3 million in prize money. He is one of ten Gr1 winners for sire, and former Horse Of The Year Dynasty (Fort Wood). One of South Africa’s top stallions, Dynasty (whose yearlings have sold up to R5.2 million), is the sire of more than 70 stakes horses, including Futura, Irish Flame, and Legislate –all of whom were named Horse Of The Year.Other champions sired by Dynasty include star fillies Beach Beauty and Bela-Bela, as well as fellow Gr1 winners Act Of War, Ancestral Fore, It’s My Turn, and recent Gr1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas winner Just Sensual. The blue blooded Jackson is out of the winning Cozzene mare Moonlit Prairie, and is a full brother to Gr3 Byerley Turk Plate winner Heartland (Dynasty) and a half brother to Gr3 Lebelo Sprint winner Jade Bay (Jallad).
He is from the same family as dual US champion sire Smart Strike (Mr Prospector), Canadian legend Dance Smartly (Danzig), and the ill-fated SA sire successes Strike Smartly (Mr Prospector) and Sail From Seattle (Gone West). His broodmare sire, former US champion sire Cozzene (Caro), is also broodmare sire of one of the world’s great sires –Pivotal (Polar Falcon).Jackson has seven lots on offer at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale, including a half brother to Equus Champion, and Wilgerbosdrift’s young sire, Soft Falling Rain (National Assembly).
