The Mike Bass team have dismissed an offer from Phumelela to race their star horse in Johannesburg for their racing season.
"A few weeks back, we received a very lucrative offer to race Pocket Power in Gauteng in the Horse Chestnut Stakes over a mile and possibly the Steinhoff Summer Cup, where he would face rival Dancers Daughter once again," said Bass racing.
"However after some serious thought and deliberation we have decided that we will unfortunately not be sending him to Johannesburg. To keep him in hard work after his Cape campaign would mean that we would not get the adequate time to rest his foot before the KZN season, which ultimately could jeopardise his chances in this year’s Durban July. Had he been a sounder, tougher horse there would have been no hesitation.
Pocket Power will be aimed at his usual Durban campaign and according to Bass Racing, Dubai is on the cards for him at the new Meydan track in the emirate in 2010.
