Baron Georg Von Ullmann`s Breeders` Cup Turf (G1) winner Shirocco (Ger) was
named Horse of the Year in Germany, based on the results of a poll of television
viewers.
Although Shirocco did not race in Germany in 2005, the son of Monsun won the
Breeders` Cup Turf to cap a four-year-old season in which he won one of three
starts. He also placed third in the Prix Foy (Fr-G2).
Shirocco received 52.9 percent of the votes to out-distance runner-up
Gonbarda, who won two Group 1 stakes races in Germany in 2005; and Lucky Strike,
who won three Group 3 sprints in Germany in 2005.
