Raymond Danielson’s move to the Gujadhur stable provided the key talking point on a weather-disrupted Wednesday morning, where training activity remained limited for a second consecutive day.

With the inside track again deemed unsuitable for galloping, no fast work was recorded, and horses were confined to trotting and cantering. The subdued programme, however, did little to detract from the significance of Danielson’s arrival.

The South African jockey, who recently linked up with the yard, wasted no time getting acquainted with his new mounts, partnering several runners during the session. His move comes on the back of strong form, having ended last season with victories in the final two classics while riding for the Arveen Nagadoo stable. SAHorseracing.COM announced yesterday the move to hire Kabelo Matsunyane by the Nagadoo Stable. Matsunyane arrives this Monday. 

While conditions have delayed the return to full training, the early opportunity to familiarise himself with the Gujadhur string marks an important step in Danielson’s transition.

A decision regarding Thursday’s scheduled barrier trials is expected later in the day, pending a further assessment of track conditions.
