One Stripe delivered a dazzling performance when it counted, claiming victory in the prestigious King's Plate at Kenilworth on Saturday.
The Breeders' Cup 'Win and You're In' contest unfolded as expected, with the early pace dictated by Oriental Charm, followed by Montein, and eventually Snow Pilot, who had to contend with a challenging wide draw.
As the race reached its decisive moments, the spotlight turned to Gimme A Prince, Montein, and the emerging One Stripe. Snow Pilot’s challenge faded as the pace slackened, leaving Montein and Gimme A Prince locked in a fierce battle. However, One Stripe surged late, sweeping past to secure the win.
Owner Rikesh Sewgoolam was unable to attend, but trainer Vaughan Marshall celebrated the triumph and praised both the horse and its sire, One World—a champion Marshall previously guided to victory in the Cape Met.
Gavin Lerena rode the star colt to victory, his first King's Plate.
