'I was there' moment as UK Champ incoming

Big Weekend incoming as International Jockey Headlines the Summer Cup

The Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup is a near sell out in terms of its hospitality offerings with only general entrance tickets left.

There is no doubt the box office rider Oisin Murphy had something to do with that as he graces the turf at the historic course for the first time. In fact, it's the reigning British Champions first riding stint in Africa.

His first ride ever in Africa will be onboard Kenneth Pillay's Green Street, a second time starter who is the current favourite for the event.

Murphy's main ride is on the Team Valor filly, Frances Ethel, who takes her place as the current second favourite for the main event. Her ability to see out the complete 2000m trip at Turffontein is key as the pace will likely be on in what will be a fair test.

There is no doubt the effort gone into the Summer Cup this year has made it a race everyone in the sport would like to attend and say they attended. It could end up being an 'I was there' moment.

Joburg's Jol will carry on through the evening and night as the after party links up post race with the vibe set to be spectacular on course.

If those famous green and red colours of Team Valor cross the line first, it will be celebrations all around the world as the filly has numerous cross continental partners ranging from Australia to America and South Africa's own movie mogul, Anant Singh to boot.
