Beach Bomb Makes her Mark in United States Gr3

South African-bred Beach Bomb delivered a bold front-running performance to claim victory in the Grade 3 Very One at Gulfstream Park on Fountain of Youth Day.

Previously trained by Candice Bass-Robinson and racing under the Drakenstein Stud banner (competing as Cayton Park), Beach Bomb was given a confident ride by Luis Saez, showcasing exceptional pace control to secure the win. This triumph marks a significant milestone for South African breeding since the lifting of export restrictions last year, allowing for direct shipment to the United States.

Top trainer Graham Motion, who has been a key figure in managing many of these South African imports—including Isivunguvungu—once again played a pivotal role in this success.

A daughter of Lancaster Bomber out of the multiple Grade 1-winning mare Beach Beauty, Beach Bomb went off as the 4/1 second choice in the betting. She built on an encouraging performance in the Breeders' Cup, where she finished just 3.5 lengths behind the winner in her previous start.

This win further validates the growing presence of South African talent on the international stage.
