Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS Co., Ltd. announced on the 9th of September that it will be expanding its "JRA Card" collection for the first time in 10 years, in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Japan Racing Association (JRA). These credit cards are specifically designed for horse racing enthusiasts, offering perks such as online reservations for reserved seats at racetracks. While all JRA members can participate in a general lottery for these seats, JRA cardholders get an exclusive advantage with access to an early lottery. The cards also come with a rewards program that allows users to exchange points for exclusive horse racing merchandise.
As part of this expansion, a new card featuring the horse Equinox has been introduced. Three design options are available, featuring images from his 2011 Tenno Sho (Autumn) win and his victory in the 2011 Japan Cup. Equinox, the first foal of the famous Kitasan Black, who won seven GI titles, made his racing debut in August 2021. From his 2012 Tenno Sho (Autumn) victory through to the Japan Cup the following year, he dominated with six straight GI wins, both in Japan and internationally, earning him the top spot in the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings.
To celebrate the release of this new card, a membership campaign will run from September 13th until January 15th, 2025. As part of the promotion, 1,050 lucky winners will receive special items such as a replica of Equinox’s bib number, plush toys, and other exclusive racing-themed goods.
