It was obvious from the riding engagements this afternoon at Turffontein that there was something amiss about the relationship between long time stable aligned jockey Gavin Lerena and top stable, Johan Jansen Van Vuuren.
The news of their relationship break down has been doing the rounds of late and it was confirmed by various sources to have broken down. The subsequent news is that they decided to part ways.
There seems be no issue with big investor in horses, Laurence Werners, as Lerena rode a winner for him at the Vaal, Musical Score, on Wednesday but for trainer Lucky Houdalakis. He was not onboard Werners winners at Turffontein trained by Janse Van Vuuren. Far Reaching and Chasing Happiness were both ridden by Smanga Khumalo.
Van Vuuren and Wernars combined for two winners at Turffontein this Saturday.
