Master Redoute Strikes Gold in World Pool Gold Cup

Master Redoute redeemed himself in style at the Hollywoodbets Greyville yesterday by winning the Gr3 World Pool Gold Cup, after experiencing a challenging run in the Hollywoodbets Durban July. Trainer Andre Nel humorously remarked, "He likes it rough but not quite that rough," reflecting on Master Redoute’s previous tough race. This time, the horse navigated a tight gap with ease to secure victory.

Jockey Corne Orffer shared his experience, saying, "I went for a tight gap and hoped that it would not close on me. But that’s what he likes," highlighting the horse's preference for challenging races.

The race saw Highveld raider Zeus, ridden by Grant van Niekerk, take an early lead down the back stretch, followed by Future Swing and Shoot The Rapids. The rest of the field struggled to keep up.

As they approached the final turn, the field tightened. Zeus faded early, leaving Shoot The Rapids and Future Swing to contend for the lead, with Master Redoute and Ponte Pietra in close pursuit. Near the finish, Future Swing drifted off course, hampering Shoot The Rapids and providing Master Redoute with the opportunity to secure the win, which he did with determination.
