Cape Meeting Abandoned

The meeting scheduled for Monday has been abandoned. After receiving 437mm of rain in July, the Cape Storm hit on Thursday. This resulted in flooding across all our facilities. Despite this, the Winter track recovered remarkably swiftly and was on course to host tomorrow’s meeting. Unfortunately, we have received a further 60mm of rain over the weekend, more than forecast. This extra rainfall has left the track just short of recovery time for tomorrow.

We are expecting a reprieve in the weather this week with lighter rainfall for next weekend. The improved drainage at our tracks give us a good chance of hosting these meetings without further delay unless greater rain is received than forecast.

To assist with the lost meetings we have added a further meeting next Monday, July 22nd.

We may add a further meeting on Wednesday, July 24th. This will depend on demand at acceptances for our meetings scheduled in the next seven days.

Cape Racing is committed to replacing as many lost meetings as possible over the final weeks of the season.
