Baaeed's first foal, a bay filly, has recently arrived at Haras de la Perelle in Normandy. The filly is the offspring of Mejthaam, a two-time winning sprinter by Exceed And Excel and a half-sister to Alflaila, the Gr.2 York Stakes winner in 2023. Alflaila, still in training with Owen Burrows, is expected to participate in top-level races spanning a mile to ten furlongs in 2024.
Mejthaam, a Shadwell homebred with a strong pedigree, is out of Listed Montrose Stakes runner-up Adhwaa, and she's a half-sister to Listed winner Shaqira, descending from Cheshire Oaks heroine Hammiya.
William Rimaud, the manager at Haras de la Perelle, expressed delight, describing the foal as strong, good-sized, full of energy, and possessing a great temperament. The filly represents the first offspring of the champion Baaeed, and Rimaud finds it very exciting.
Baaeed, with an Official Rating of 135, holds the highest rating in Europe since Frankel. His six Group 1 victories led to him being named World Champion turf horse and miler in 2022, defeating 19 individual Gr.1 winners of 43 Gr.1 races. In his first season at stud, Baaeed has garnered support from leading breeders worldwide, with star names such as Deirdre, Eshaada, Nazeef, Persuasive, Queen’s Trust, and others due to produce Baaeed foals in 2024.
