It has been announced that Chiselling will not be available to South African
breeders this season. He was booked to cover 90 mares.
Chiselling missed the flight to Europe on 30th July from USA due to
veterinary reasons (insurance underwriters requested a delay in his movement due
to treatment for EPM, a non-transmittable disease). He was to meet the only
charter direct to the Cape from the Northern Hemisphere, which arrived last
weekend. The alternative of shipping the stallion at a later stage via
Johannesburg is not viable in view of the fact that he would have to serve out
an AHS vaccination period. He would then only arrive in the Cape at the end of
the season. The horse will be left in the US to recover fullly. He will be in
South Africa well in advance of the 2005 breeding season.
