The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that, at an inquiry held on 23 July 2026 by virtual sitting between the NHA offices at Hollywoodbets Greyville and the NHA Head Office Virtual Boardroom, Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.
The particulars of the charge were that, as the rider of the horse COSMIC SPEED, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horses MAIN DEFENDER (K Matsunyane) and TIN PAN ALLEY (K De Melo) at approximately the 300m mark in Race 7, run at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 6 June 2026.
Jockey Yeni pleaded not guilty to the charge but was found guilty as charged.
After considering all factors in mitigation, as well as the aggravating circumstances, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of fourteen (14) days' suspension from riding in races.
Jockey M Yeni has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
