Racing fans can celebrate as seven-time Group 1 champion Alligator Blood gears up for a thrilling return to the track, now under the care of leading trainer Chris Waller. The announcement follows a period of uncertainty about the gelding's future after suffering a serious pastern injury almost a year ago.
Initially feared to be career-ending, the injury has fully healed, with recent scans revealing no scarring or lingering issues. This recovery paves the way for the eight-year-old to attempt a racing revival. Owners have decided on a stable change, believing Waller’s renowned training methods and environment will offer fresh opportunities for the seasoned star.
During his rehabilitation, Alligator Blood spent time at Vision Equine in Queensland, where water walker therapy played a crucial role in his recovery. He later moved to Limitless Lodge in New South Wales, managed by Tim Boland, who has a long-standing collaboration with Waller and has pre-trained many of his top-tier horses.
Racing in Gerry Harvey’s iconic blue and white silks and co-owned by Queenslanders Jeff and Robyn Simpson, Alligator Blood’s 2023 spring carnival campaign was nothing short of exceptional. He claimed victories in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes and Might And Power Stakes before finishing a commendable third in Romantic Warrior's Cox Plate.
As the racing world eagerly awaits his return, the transition to Waller’s stable marks a new chapter for this beloved champion. Alligator Blood’s journey back to the track is set to captivate fans, with hopes high for more unforgettable performances in the future.
