International Flavour to Pegasus Day including South African Gr1 winner

The Pegasus World Cup Invitational series at Gulfstream Park on January 25 promises a highly competitive lineup across its three main events, with top talent from the U.S. and abroad vying for the substantial purses. Here's an overview:

Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) – $3 Million

Headline Invitees:

Mystik Dan: 2024 Kentucky Derby winner looking for redemption after a last-place finish in the Malibu Stakes (G1). Trainer Kenny McPeek and jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. expect improvement over the 1 1/8-mile distance.

White Abarrio: The 2023 Breeders' Cup Classic champion aims to build on a closing second in the Mr. Prospector Stakes (G3). Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. also has Skippylongstocking entered.

Rattle N Roll: Winner of the Clark Stakes (G2), returning strong after a year-long layoff.

Senor Buscador: Last year's Pegasus runner-up likely making his career finale.

Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1T) – $1 Million

Top Invitees:

Nations Pride: Three-time North American G1 winner, including the Arlington Million (G1T), despite a recent 10th in Bahrain.

Johannes: Shoemaker Mile (G1T) winner and Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1T) runner-up.


Other prominent entries include Formidable Man, Win for the Money, Get Smokin, Grand Sonata, Major Dude, Integration, and Mi Hermano Ramon.

Reserves:

Alternates feature Running Bee, Spirit of St. Louis, Fort Washington, Chasing the Crown, Astronomer, and Cabo Spirit.

 

Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G2T) – $500,000

Highlighted Invitees:

Bless My Stars: A South African G1 winner making her second U.S. start.

Dona Clota: Chilean G1 winner debuting in the U.S. for Resolute Racing.

She Feels Pretty and Sacred Wish: Leading the American contingent.
