Cape Racing, in collaboration with Gallop TV, has assumed full control of the live picture production at Kenilworth and Durbanville racecourses as of January 1.
The milestone move marks the beginning of a new era, with the King’s Plate meeting at Kenilworth serving as the debut event under the Gallop TV broadcasting team. Widely recognized as Cape Town’s premier racing occasion, the King’s Plate has surpassed the Cape Met in prestige in recent years.
For this Saturday’s event, 4Racing TV, also known as Racing 240, will operate as a guest broadcaster. Unlike before, Racing 240 will no longer oversee the live feed from Kenilworth and is currently functioning under a month-to-month agreement with both Gold Circle and Cape Racing for broadcast rights.
While the long-term implications of this change remain unclear, fans watching Racing 240 via DSTV are unlikely to experience any immediate disruptions. However, the transition has sparked keen interest among racing enthusiasts, who will closely monitor the production quality under the new setup during the King’s Plate.
This development sets the stage for a potentially transformative chapter in South African racing broadcasts, with Cape Racing now steering its own visual narrative.
