The Doors Are Open - what next for SA breeders?

No doubt breeders will be carefully analysing the current band of SA based Sires that offer bloodlines favoured by buyers in the European Union as opposed to the bloodlines preferred in South Africa.
This analysis will include short-listing the pedigree of SA racehorses that are favoured in Europe as well as those that have raced successfully in the Middle East.

Dubawi is an obvious favourite and therefore his mini-me ERUPT and possibly WILLOW MAGIC even though both are far less illustrious than their famous sire. The proven Dubawi nicks with Galileo and Danehill (in SA the closest remaining are Danehill Dancer) broodmares.

Of course, the irrefutable influence of the indomitable Galileo must be brought into reckoning through both his sons and daughters. The SA Trio of GLOBAL VIEW, THE UNITED STATES and FLYING THE FLAG together with the SA Broodmares by Galileo unquestionably must rise to the fore. The former sire is increasingly producing winners on South African soil thanks to the resolute belief of Ascot Stud in his potential.

So too should CANFORD CLIFFS and TWICE OVER come into the reckoning on the basis of their outstanding racing achievements in Europe as should the remarkable progeny racing achievements of the latter.

The eye-catching early success of ONE WORLD is expected to elicit foreign interest bolstered by his Giants Causeway female genetic backed by the renowned Captain Al make line.

Of the stablished Sires VERCINGETORIX, due to his foreign racing exploits, should top the boards followed by RAFEEF.

JET DARK, CHARLES DICKENS, QUERARI, QUASILLO, ADMIRAL KITTEN, amongst others, including the new sire arrivals will probably be closely followed by the foreign buyers and it can be expected that the USA will show tempted interest as well particularly in the progress with the War Front duo.

All in all it is going to be interesting to discover which bloodlines the new foreign interest will seek and, critically, it is hoped that local Buying Agents will not be blindly biased with their advice/choices and seek rather to promote the depth and range of SA bloodlines considered to contain high racing probability abroad. Discipline and professionalism is required over favouritism.

South Africa, you have waited patiently for this opportunity and huge congratulations to those who have re-opened this opportunity.
