Easter Sunday was a Double Grand Slam

Easter Sunday racing was a double grand slam for patrons attending the Greyville meeting in the middle of the Easter holiday break in Durban.

With a sizable crowd in attedance and a great atmosphere, there is no other crowd like that in South Africa racing, a jewel in South Africa's racing crown. This is mainly due to the fanatical local population.

Double Grand Slam was the toast of the city course as she cruised into the lead at the 200m pole in the Gr3 UMZIMKHULU STAKES. The race was made even more spectacular by the attendance of legendary golfer Gary Player, who is a shareholder in the stunning filly. The Gr3 Prix Du Cap winner lifted her supporters hope of a Gr1 in time, as she smashed a quality including the likes of the smart Gr2 winner Rascova. It wasn't ideal for the Kotzen trained filly as her saddle slipped when breaking out of the pens, which left Jockey Craig Zackey in a less than optimal situation.

Double Grand Slam strode past the front runner in style, putting to bed the race very quickly.

Mia Moo was second with Rascova in third.
