The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on 10 June 2021, Jockey Teaque Gould was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.25. The particulars being that as a licenced Jockey, he conducted himself in an improper manner by spitting his saliva at another person at Fairview Racecourse on 16 April 2021.
Jockey Gould pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty as charged.
The Inquiry Board after considering all the evidence presented in mitigation and aggravation, and in particular the current risks related to the Covid-19 pandemic, imposed a penalty of a fine of R15 000 (fifteen thousand rand) of which R5 000 (five thousand rand) is wholly suspended for a period of two years (2 years) on condition that he is not found guilty of a contravention of this rule during this period.
Jockey Gould has the Right of Appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.
