Jockey Banned for a Year Following Positive Drug Test

The Selangor Turf Club was rocked by controversy as jockey S. Ruzaini received a 12-month suspension and a RM30,000 fine after testing positive for methamphetamine. The test, conducted on January 12, 2025, confirmed the presence of the prohibited substance, leading to swift disciplinary action.

Ruzaini admitted guilt under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) during a Stewards’ inquiry on January 26. Weighing the severity of the violation alongside mitigating factors, officials imposed a one-year suspension, effective from January 18, 2025, to January 17, 2026.

Beyond serving his ban, Ruzaini faces mandatory drug testing before being considered for a return to racing. Whether he can rebuild his career remains uncertain—will this be a setback or a career-ending blow?
