Kannemeyer Star to Revert to Sprinting

Gimme's Countess will revert to sprinting after being beaten again over ground in the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas on Saturday.

It was Fatal Flaw day over the weekend where Brett and James Crawford dominated with the Cape fillies left counting their losses. Fatal Flaw was shipped in from Joburg for the win. At the forefront of them was Gimme's Countess, who was rater disappointing having flattened at the business end of the race.

The Dean Kannemeyer filly has always been highly regarded but has failed over ground a few times now including on Saturday and over the 1400 in the Western Cape Fillies Championship. She was drawn wide in both races unfortunately. However, Fatal Flaw was drawn wider on Saturday and won.

Kannemeyer announced in a post race interview at Kenilworth today after The Real Prince won his event, that stablemate Gimme's Countess will be pointed at the Sceptre Stakes. That is a 1200m straight race run on King's Plate day. Princess Calla and Celtic Sea can count as winners of that race.
