Ka Ying Rising Breaks Course Record - beats JJ The Plane's 2010 time by 1.4s

Ka Ying Rising is a horse on the up, if not at the top of his game. Beaten only twice, by a nose, in 10 starts he shattered the Sha Tin course record of 68.35s with a stunning 67.43s over the 1200m trip on turf. The old record was held by superstar, Sacred Kingdom.

To put that into context local hero and South African star, JJ The Jet Plane won the 2010 Hong Kong Sprint over the same distance in a time of 68.84s beating the top class Rocket Man, the star of world sprinting at the time. To put it into lengths, that's a good 8/9 lengths behind in terms of time, although one can argue that the surface isn't exactly the same, going wise. However near enough!

Ka Ying Rising also beat the reigning Al Quoz winner, California Spangle in this group 2, a horse who hasn't recaptured that Dubai form this season. The run from Ka Ying Rising was also from draw 10 making it even more special. He beat his next best rival by 3 and a quarter lengths in this Group 2 warm-up sprint for the big international day in December.

Big things are expected of Ka Ying Rising as another course record is lowered in the eastern hemisphere. Via Sistina lowered the Moonee Valley course record over 2000m in the Cox's Plate a few weeks back.

Via Sistina's performance, clocking a course-record time of 2:01.07, eclipsed the previous mark of 2:02.07 set by the legendary mare Winx in the 2017 Cox Plate. Winx is renowned for her incredible streak of four consecutive Cox Plate victories from 2015 to 2018.
