Craig Zackey took a major swipe at Gold Circle regarding the Polytrack at Greyville after his win on Dean Kannemeyer's Mc Dazzler.
The Khaya Stables retained rider said, “This track is horrendous. It’s really just sand. It gets up the horse’s nasal passages. Have a look at Fairview, horses can win from anywhere,” in a vocal post-race interview.
Unfortunately for the organizers Zackey isn't wrong and the track has been a problem for organizers and punters alike. With Gold Circle in transition at the moment it is of little doubt that the track will be addressed at short notice however in terms meantime, it's a problem.
The track is years overdue for an upgrade in line with recommendations by Polytrack developers Martin Collins themselves.
The Polytrack surface as a whole is exactly 23 years old with the first meeting being completed in November 2001 at Lingfield.
Greyville's poly was installed in 2014 with the first race on June 11 of that year after a non betting racemeeting took place on 3 June. Polytracks usually last around 6 years after which upgrades need to take place.
