South Africa's Long Shots have local support but none overseas

There is little respect in the betting market for the two South Africans in the two day Del Mar Breeders' Cup to be held this weekend.

Both Isivunguvungu and Beach Bomb are at long odds to win their respective races, at 20/1 and 25/1 respectively.

Isivunguvungu is a talented Sprinter but this is a different league completely including the world's best in Cogburn, a horse who holds the 5.5f North American Turf record. He is dubbed the best Sprinter in the world not for nothing. The 15/10 will runs against the South African (22/1) from draw 9, next door Isivunguvungu at 10. Another quick horse in Bradsell is drawn 12 so there's plenty of pace on the outside. It would be interesting to see if they go forwards or back with the son of What A Winter

Beach Bomb on the other hand has had two runs in the United States for two decent efforts but nothing to write home about in terms of winning the race against this quality of company. The Fillies and Mares Turf has the daughter of Beach Beauty as the second longest shot in the race at 33/1 and rightly so considering the depth of the field.

Both willl do well to run decent races putting the nation on the map again after a return to the international fold in a bigger way than ever before. Wins or even placings will be unexpected bonuses for connections but for the fans back in South Africa, they would be expecting close up efforts.
