A few High Profile TCO2 positives but generally on the decline

South Africa's hard line policy on TC02 positives has reaped positive results with the number of positives significantly down from the early days of testing when the punters and trainers were largely up in arms about the issue.

Once perceived to be a Joburg problem, the country wide positive counts showed an industry that needed to be reigned in when it came to higher than normal readings. The threshold itself was increased to give the trainers more leeway.

Durbanville in Cape Town had the latest positive on Saturday with a Justin Snaith horse coming up as a TC02 scratching. He wasn't the only one this week after Corne Spies got one at the Vaal and Tony Peter had a well backed favourite scratched last week.

Here are the latest over the past month.

Juniper Hills, 14 Aug, Greyville, Tinnie Prinsloo
Absolu Noir, 27 Aug, Fairview, Emmanuel Kaknis
Mizzen Sword, 29 Aug, Vaal, Mark Khan
Gimmeachoice, backed into 1/1 from 9/4, 5 Sept Vaal, Tony Peter
Cian the Conqueror, 12th Sept, 8/1 stable betting, Vaal, Corne Spies
Lickety Split, 28/10 out to 5/1, 14 Sept, Durbanville, Justin Snaith.
