City Of Troy up to 2nd in World Rankings

The latest edition of the LONGINES World's Best Racehorse Rankings for 2024 sees City of Troy (USA), with a rating of 127, rise to the second-highest position and become the leading turf horse. This leap follows his remarkable victory in the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1), where he set a new track record and defeated Calandagan (IRE) by a length. His previous wins in the Coral-Eclipse (G1) and Betfred Derby (G1) solidified his top-tier rating, which increased from 123 to 127.

Laurel River (USA) retains the top spot with a rating of 128, trained in the UAE. Meanwhile, Calandagan (IRE), who holds a 125 rating, shares third place with Goliath (GER). Calandagan had an impressive run this season, including victories in the King Edward VII Stakes (G2) and the Prix Hocquart (G3).

Fierceness (USA) is another horse making strides, improving his rating to 123 after a narrow win over Thorpedo Anna (USA) in the DraftKings Travers Stakes (G1). His successful season also includes wins in the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) and Curlin Florida Derby (G1).

Other horses climbing the rankings include Charyn (IRE), now rated at 122 after his win in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois (G1), and Economics (GB) and Fantastic Moon (GER), both newcomers to the rankings following significant wins in Europe.
