Barry Irwin, the founder and CEO of Team Valor International, announced that the Zoldan Family, owners of Phantom Fireworks, along with Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl-winning tight end Travis Kelce, recently acquired a substantial share in Team Valor's 3-year-old gelding, Swift Delivery. Team Valor co-owns the horse with Gary Barber. Kelce is famously the boyfriend of superstar Taylor Swift.
The Zoldans have been integral to Team Valor's syndicates for nearly 40 years, having participated in three notable Kentucky Derby (G1) events. These include Animal Kingdom's win in 2011, a narrow second-place finish with Captain Bodgit in 1997, and a close fourth with Went The Day Well in 2012.
Bruce Zoldan, the founder and CEO of Phantom Fireworks, has been a regular at the Kentucky Derby. This year, Travis Kelce, also an Ohio native, attended the Derby with the Zoldans, due to his close friendship with Bruce's son, Alex. Phantom Fireworks, headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio, is the largest fireworks retailer in North America.
Swift Delivery had an impressive debut for Team Valor and Barber, winning an allowance race at Woodbine on July 19. Prior to that, he dominated a June 23 maiden race at Woodbine, winning by 16 1/2 lengths while racing solely for Barber. Trained by Mark Casse, the son of Not This Time is scheduled to make his stakes debut on August 31 in the Toronto Cup, a mile-long turf race at Woodbine.
