ARTHUR'S RIDE IN FRONT RUNNING WHITNEY WIN

A wet Saratoga provided the backdrop to the 9f Whitney, a Breeders' Cup 'Win and You're in' race with lots on the line including the million dollar stake.

Glassman Racing’s ARTHUR'S RIDE (c, 4, Tapit–Points of Grace, by Point Given) dominated a rare 10-furlong allowance race on June 7, winning by 12 3/4 lengths.

Fast forward to today's Whitney, despite starting with morning odds of 8-1, he was bet down to 6-1, thanks to that impressive 111 Beyer Speed Figure in that event - a truly dominate display.

Making his stakes debut in the Breeders' Cup 'Win and You're In' GI Whitney Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday, Arthur's Ride aimed for the lead from the start, even from his wide post position. Under jockey Junior Alvarado, he broke from gate nine and set a brisk pace, leading through splits of :23.26 and :46.63 with Skippylongstocking (Exaggerator) close behind. National Treasure, the odds-on favorite, was positioned well but had to run from behind.

Arthur's Ride continued his strong pace, hitting three-quarters of a mile in 1:10.29 and widening his lead at the top of the stretch. He maintained a clear advantage into the final furlong, holding off late challenges from Crupi (Curlin) and Post Time (Frosted) to secure the win. National Treasure finished sixth - a rather flat run but he hasn't run well in the slop previously either. Amazingly, this victory marked Hall of Famer Bill Mott’s first win in the Whitney Stakes.

The colt cost $250,000 at the 2021 Keeneland Sept. He improves his record to an impressive 7-4-2-0. The Breeders' Cup Classic awaits this game front running star.
