Despite facing a formidable lineup of competitors, The Chosen Vron triumphed in the July 27 Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) at Del Mar. The California-bred gelding, favored at 3-2, continued his remarkable record, making it 14 wins in his last 15 races. Guided by his regular rider Hector Berrios, The Chosen Vron overcame early leaders Anarchist and Closethegame Sugar to win by 2 1/4 lengths, clocking in at 1:08.99.
Trainer, co-owner, and co-breeder Eric Kruljac praised Berrios, emphasizing his integral role in The Chosen Vron's success. The victory not only boosted The Chosen Vron’s career earnings to $1,659,678 but also secured him a spot in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1).
The Chosen Vron, a six-year-old by Vronsky, has an impressive career with 19 wins out of 24 starts, 18 of which were in stakes. This latest win elevates him to 20th on the all-time list of Cal-bred earners. Kruljac, who bred and trained him in collaboration with partners, highlighted the horse's exceptional temperament and intelligence, comparing him to a near-human being.
