ROSALLION LIVES UP TO CLASSY REPUTATION

Rosallion surged past Henry Longfellow in the final strides to win the St James's Palace Stakes, thanks to a bold inside ride by jockey Sean Levey. Metropolitan took third place.

The St James's Palace Stakes was highly anticipated as a highlight of the week, featuring winners of the 2,000 Guineas, Irish 2,000 Guineas, and Poule d’Essai des Poulains, and it delivered on the excitement.

Aidan O’Brien’s pair, Unquestionable and Henry Longfellow, controlled the race from the front. Unquestionable led on the rail while Henry Longfellow stayed close on the outside.

Metropolitan, the Poulains winner, stayed just behind the leaders, with Rosallion positioned further back on the rail, and Notable Speech near the rear in Godolphin blue.

As the field turned for home, Unquestionable increased the pace, setting up a perfect lead for Henry Longfellow. William Buick took 2,000 Guineas winner Notable Speech wide from the back, while Sean Levey waited for an opening on Rosallion.

Levey’s patience paid off. The field spread out entering the final furlong and a half, allowing Rosallion to unleash his powerful finish. Henry Longfellow held the lead for most of the stretch, but Rosallion’s charge proved unstoppable, securing victory.
