Richard Fourie is on a quest to beat the national record for most wins in a season of 334 and the likeable Cape based jockey hit the 300 mark at Scottsville today.

He rode the Glen Kotzen trained galloper Commanding to victory in race 1.

Last season he had 258 winners in the entire season so this is uncharted waters for the Champion elect. His strike rate last season was remarkably similar to his current season. It was 22.05% rides to winners and 22.85% this season.

Fourie rode two winners at Kenilworth yesterday and two at Fairview on Friday. He is currently getting the pick of almost any yard in the country whilst riding almost exclusively for Alan Greeff in Gqeberha.
