Frankel's Gr1 son to Shuttle to New Zealand

Juddmonte's recent addition to their European stallion lineup, Chaldean (GB), will be shuttling to Cambridge Stud in New Zealand for the 2024 Southern Hemisphere season. This move reflects the increasing international interest in Frankel, as Chaldean, one of Frankel's most promising sons, offers Southern Hemisphere breeders access to his exceptional pedigree and performance.

Chaldean, a G1 winner at both two and three, achieved a remarkable feat by winning the Dewhurst-Guineas double, following in the footsteps of his illustrious sire. Notably, he's only the ninth colt in the last 50 years to accomplish this, making him and Frankel the only father-son duo to achieve such a feat.

Purchased by Juddmonte for 550,000 guineas at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, Chaldean demonstrated his brilliance as a juvenile by winning four out of five starts. Despite losing his rider in the Group III Greenham Stakes, he rebounded impressively to secure victory in the prestigious Group I Newmarket Two Thousand Guineas, with champion jockey Frankie Dettori aboard.

Frankel's influence in Australasia is also significant, with 11 Group One winners, 27 Group winners, and 42 stakes winners sired by him in 2023 alone. These achievements have driven demand in the sales ring, with mares in-foal to Frankel fetching impressive prices.

Simon Mockridge, General Manager UK at Juddmonte, expressed excitement about Chaldean's popularity and suitability for the Southern Hemisphere market, emphasizing the collaboration with Cambridge Stud as a perfect opportunity.

Cambridge Stud's CEO, Henry Plumptre, echoed the enthusiasm, highlighting Chaldean's impressive pedigree and racing record, making him an attractive prospect for Australasian breeders.

Under the ownership of Brendan and Jo Lindsay, Cambridge Stud is poised for success, with the Juddmonte partnership promising a bright future. Brendan Lindsay expressed pride in the collaboration and anticipation for offering Chaldean to their client base.

Chaldean will stand at Cambridge Stud for a fee of $35,000 + GST, with a limit of 120 mares, presenting an exciting opportunity for breeders in the region.
