JMac and Voyage Bubble Secure place in HK's Elite

Voyage Bubble secured his position among Hong Kong's elite with a commanding victory in the HK$13 million G1 Stewards' Cup (1600m) at Sha Tin on Sunday, marking Ricky Yiu's first Group 1 triumph since Amber Sky's 2014 G1 Centenary Sprint Cup (1200m). Under James McDonald's guidance, Voyage Bubble, now boasting six wins and six minor placings from 15 starts, showcased terminal acceleration to triumph over Beauty Eternal and Beauty Joy.

McDonald, celebrating his sixth Hong Kong Group 1 win, expressed pride in Voyage Bubble's performance, emphasizing the horse's fantastic run in the International Mile. Looking ahead, he suggested a multitude of options for the five-year-old, including potential ventures to Australia, Dubai, or Japan, leaving decisions to the connections.

Despite Yiu contemplating international races like the G1 Dubai Turf or G1 Doncaster Mile Handicap, McDonald emphasized the abundance of opportunities in Hong Kong for Voyage Bubble, particularly over 1400m to a mile. The New Zealander highlighted Voyage Bubble as a force to be reckoned with and a potential successor to Golden Sixty, lauding the competitive and fair nature of Hong Kong racing.

Yiu, pleased with Voyage Bubble's talent and improvement, remained open about future plans, excluding a Citi Hong Kong Gold Cup bid. McDonald's successful day also included a victory aboard Wunderbar for John Size and a brace of wins for Zac Purton, extending his lead in the jockeys' championship.
