In Memoriam, 'Der Kaiser' Franz Beckenbauer.

Franz Beckenbauer, a legend in the annals of football history, stood out as one of the greatest players, achieving the rare distinction of winning the World Cup both as a player and a manager, a feat shared only with Mario Zagallo and Didier Deschamps.

Beckenbauer's illustrious career saw him secure 17 club trophies, primarily with Bayern Munich, except for the Bundesliga triumph with Hamburg. Notably, he clinched the MLS title thrice with New York Cosmos.

Following his managerial success in guiding Germany to World Cup victory in 1990, Beckenbauer added the Ligue 1 title with Marseille in the subsequent year. His journey came full circle upon returning to Bayern, where he added more accolades to his legacy, lifting both the Bundesliga and UEFA Cup.

He passed away yesterday aged 78.
