Muth Supreme in San Vicente at Santa Anita

Following a duo of Grade 1 stakes at 1 1/16 miles, Muth, trained by Bob Baffert, demonstrated his class by triumphing in the Grade 2, $200,000 San Vicente Stakes at Santa Anita, covering seven furlongs in 1:23.01. Ridden by Juan Hernández, Muth outpaced stablemate Pilot Commander by 2 3/4 lengths. Owned by Zedan Racing Stables, Muth's impressive performance prompted a shift in his odds from 40-1 to 30-1 for the Kentucky Derby 2024 at Circa Sports in Las Vegas.

Bob Baffert expressed pride in both horses, especially highlighting the support from Amr Zedan, the owner. Muth, named after Baffert's friend Aaron Muth, showcased his learning curve and class according to jockey Juan Hernández. Post-race, Muth's odds for the Kentucky Derby were adjusted, reflecting the confidence in his potential.

Muth, sired by Good Magic out of the Uncle Mo mare Hoppa, was acquired for $2 million at the Ocala breeders March 2-year-olds-in-training sale. With the San Vicente victory, Muth's total earnings rose to $716,600, adding to his successful record, which includes a win in the American Pharoah (G1) two starts back on October 7. The 2-5 favorite paid $2.80, $2.10, and $2.10, demonstrating his continued dominance on the racing circuit.
