Billy Jacobson off the mark in New Zealand

South African Jockey Billy Jacobson won his first race in New Zealand aboard Lingjun Xiongfeng, coming from last on the corner to first right at the line. This was tater he omlh recently relocated to the island nation.

New Zealand horseracing hashad an upturn recently with new investment and Warren Kennedy, the Champion SA Jockey before leaving for those shores, has climbed to the top of the ladder and leaders the NZ premiership with 60 wins from 310 starts. Jacobsen's arrival and now winner only boosts the reputation of the SA jockeys riding in New Zealand.

The 43 year old has had 22 starts for his first win as he looks to establish himself in the jockey ranks. His winner went off at 14/1.
