Racing League has a lot to prove in 3rd year

Frankie Dettori is embracing the unpredictable challenges of the Racing League as he prepares to make history as the competition's first player-manager. In the previous season, the Italian jockey represented the victorious Wales and The West side, delighting crowds with his winning rides at Lingfield and Newcastle. However, in 2023, he's taking on a new role as part of The East squad as they gear up for the multi-team event returning at Yarmouth.

Dettori, who is 52 years old, will not only be donning the yellow silks of The East as one of its jockeys but has also taken on the responsibility of managing the region. His aim is to secure the Racing League trophy for the second consecutive year.

Acknowledging the weight of his managerial role, Dettori stated, "Being a manager is a big responsibility. While I may not ride in all the races, I still carry the responsibility of doing my best for the team. Winning it last year was a great achievement, and I'm eager to defend my title."

Recalling the excitement of the previous season, Dettori shared, "Last year was enjoyable, and there was a good vibe. Though my team had a slow start, we gained momentum as the competition progressed, and Saffie Osborne's treble on the last day sealed the victory for us."

As the Racing League prepares to visit Yarmouth for the first time, Dettori is eager to leave a mark on The East's home soil. He believes the six-week event's competitive nature and the element of the unknown make it thrilling for both participants and spectators.

"All my team members are striving to win, and representing the East side of the country, hailing from Newmarket, adds to the excitement," he stated. "The best thing about Racing League is its unpredictability. You never know which horses you'll end up riding, and last year's tightly contested races made it a highly competitive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved."
