GRADE 3 UMZIMKHULU STAKES - ALEXIS brings good Cape Town form to Durban

The first Grade 3 race on the card looks to be dominated by the Cape Town trained, ALEXIS, from the Brett Crawford yard. The daughter of DYNASTY looks to have a bright future ahead of her. She will be finishing well and will once again be partnered by jockey Pierre Corne Orffer who has won aboard her in all three wins. This will be her first run in KZN, but history has shown that visiting horses do well in KZN, even in their first runs.

The Mike De Kock trained daughter of TRIPPI, ONE FINE DAY, takes a step up in class from her last start. She has a tendency to lose ground at the start but should have the ability to improve this Winter Season. Her earlier form was impressive and her fourth behind her stable companion that day, MAJMU, is worth remembering. Looks to be well weighted to have a winning chance.

The Gauteng raider from the Johan Janse van Rensburg yard, SEATTLE LADY, ran on very smartly in the latter stages when showing improvement on her previous run. One must not forget her penultimate run when she romped home to win her maiden by over eleven lengths. She can only improve with more runs against good opposition.

Gauteng trainer, Stuart Pettigrew, rarely raids in KZN. One has to respect his decision to send horses to Durban and even though his horse, FUTURE FANTASTIC, may have more to find at this level. She is never too far back and has run well against weaker opposition. One could well ignore her latest run as she had to steady herself during the race and this would have cost her a few lengths.

Stable companion to SEATTLE LADY, SILVER CLASS, looks set to benefit from a drop in class. Her latest two runs were a bit below her best but at best she can certainly earn, especially with only six runners in the field.

The Corne Spies yard has been firing in Gauteng, Kimberley and KZN. FIRE DANCING seems to be the unlikely winner but should be included in all larger perms.
