Trainer Hodgson charged with improper conduct

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 18 January 2011, Trainer Darryl Hodgson was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.25 in that he, as a Licensed Trainer, conducted himself in an improper manner, by directing a verbal profanity, and an improper and offensive hand gesture towards the Starter, Mr Fred Bosman, after the conclusion of the Race Meeting outside the Stipendiary Stewards’ Boardroom, at Kenilworth Racecourse on 18 December 2010.

Mr Hodgson pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found him guilty and imposed a penalty of a R10,000.00 fine, of which R5,000.00 is wholly suspended for a period of two years, provided that Mr Hodgson is not charged with and found guilty of a similar offence during that period.

Mr Hodgson has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
