Two of the world’s most gifted racehorses are retiring to Australia this spring with Coolmore Australia today announcing that Duke of Marmalade (IRE) and Henrythenavigator (USA) will be joining its 2009 stallion roster.
Duke of Marmalade (pictured) and Henrythenavigator were dominant figures throughout Europe last season, winning no less than nine Group Ones between them in 2008.
“These two stallions are world class performers who come to Australia with the highest commercial credentials,” said Michael Kirwan, Coolmore Australia’s General Manager.
“Duke of Marmalade is a five time Group One winner, his immediate family includes no less than nine stallions that have sired Group One winners and he is by Danehill, the most significant sire in Australian history.
“Henrythenavigator was a brilliant juvenile who at three developed into one of the most acclaimed milers we have seen in some time.
“Not only did he win four Group Ones, he broke two course records and only truly outstanding horses can do that. He is also by champion sire Kingmambo and is a perfect outcross to Danehill-line mares.
“Coolmore Australia is delighted to present two stallions of this magnitude to breeders from Australia and New Zealand.”
Service fees for Duke of Marmalade and Henrythenavigator will be announced in the coming weeks.
