Mr. Brock, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Serge Seenyen of Mauritius, made history on Sunday at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club when he won the fifth event over 2200m, the Abu Dhabi Championship, with South African jockey Kevin Shea on board.
Trained by Mike de Kock, Mr. Brock (picture: DRC/Watkins) had finished twice fourth in his first three runs. The first time was over 2000m with K.Latham on board, and the second time over 2400m, with Kevin Shea.
Mr. Brock has come on from his runs during the carnival and looked to have peaked nicely in this event. Confidently ridden by master rider, Shea, Mr. Brock won well at the post for his Mauritian connections.
The South African bred is by Grade 1 winning stallion Fort Wood out of Cape Badger by Badger Land and was born and bred the at the Mauritfontein Stud owned by Mrs Bridget Oppenheimer.
Owner Serge Seenyen stated after the race that Mr.Brock has been entrusted to trainer Christiane Head-Maarek and will continue his career in France.
