Exciting New Arrivals: 32 Horses Set to Boost Mauritius Racing

Mauritius racing fans have plenty to look forward to as 32 racehorses are set to arrive on the island this weekend. The highly anticipated shipment features a mix of seasoned campaigners and promising young prospects, ready to make their mark on the local racing scene.

A Strong Contingent for Gujadhur Stable

The powerhouse Gujadhur Stable is set to welcome an impressive lineup, headlined by Itsrainingwilliam (Merit Rating 108), a multiple winner with 12 placings from 24 starts. Other notable names include The Mauritian (MR 100), Zil Moris (MR 100), and Allez Moris (MR 95).

A late addition to the team, Port Louis (MR 106), arrives with strong credentials. By Gimmethegreenlight out of a Qui Danzig mare, he boasts three wins, including victories over 1400m and 1200m, as well as a runner-up finish in a Group 3 at Kenilworth. He has competed against top horses like Charles Dickens, Cousin Casey, Royal Aussie, and Rascallion.

Rameshwar Gujadhur Stable Adds Quality

The Rameshwar Gujadhur Stable will introduce three new horses, including Havana Moon (MR 93) and Infrared (MR 101). Both have shown promise, while Kaisarissa, a lightly raced three-year-old, remains a maiden with room for improvement.

Vincent Allet and Preetam Daby Reinforce Their Stables

Vincent Allet Stable will introduce a group of unexposed but potentially talented three-year-olds, including Dwight Eisenhower (MR 82) and Rainwater (MR 80). Meanwhile, Preetam Daby Stable adds depth with runners like Cumbre Vieja (MR 86) and Wolf Mountain (MR 96), who has won twice from eight starts.

Samraj Mahadia Lands a Star in Meridius

One of the most exciting arrivals is Meridius (MR 115), now joining the Samraj Mahadia Stable. This high-class performer has won seven times, including four victories over 1600m, two over 1800m, and one over 1500m. He also contested the 2024 Hollywoodbets Durban July, facing South Africa’s elite, including Winchester Mansion, Royal Victory, Litigation, and Atticus Finch.

His stablemate Good Council (MR 104) is a proven stayer with five wins, including a victory over 2400m and two over 2000m. He has competed against some of South Africa’s top stayers, such as Zeus, Battleground, Raiseahallelujah, Future Pearl, and Crimson King.

What to Expect?

With such a diverse and talented group of arrivals, the upcoming season in Mauritius promises to be thrilling. The mix of seasoned runners and untested talents should add excitement to the racing landscape.
