Danny Shum and Ricky Yiu are optimistic following the barrier draw for the G1 Yasuda Kinen at Tokyo Racecourse on Sunday, June 2. Romantic Warrior will start from gate seven, while Voyage Bubble will jump from stall 15.
Shum is confident about Romantic Warrior's chances, noting the horse's impeccable record from barrier seven, including victories in major races such as the 2022 G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Cup. Shum is hopeful for good track conditions despite the rainy weather.
Yiu is pleased with Voyage Bubble's wide draw, recalling the horse's success from the widest barrier in the BMW Hong Kong Derby last year. He prefers an outside draw after a poor experience from barrier one in the G1 Dubai Turf. Despite no horse winning from barrier 15 since 1984, Yiu believes jockey Zac Purton can navigate a favorable race.
Leading Japanese contender Soul Rush drew barrier 10, while other notable horses, Win Carnelian, Geoglyph, and Namur, drew gates 11, four, and five, respectively. Hong Kong aims for its third Yasuda Kinen win, with previous victories by Bullish Luck in 2006 and Fairy King Prawn in 2000.
