Lavery is still to make
his mark as a sire and one feels that it wont bee too long before this Irish
bred horse produces something special .
Standing at Heversham Park
Stud in Gauteng his stud fee is a mere R5.000.
As a racehorse he won a total
of six races in England, Ireland and South Africa. His wins
were restricted to the distance of 1200m.
At two years old he won the
Grade 1 Heinz `57` Phoenix Stakes at Curragh.
At three he won the Tote
Shergar Cup Sprint at Ascot.
As a five year old in this
country his most notable achievements were in two Grade 1 sprints, namely the
Cape Flying Championship over 1000m at Kenilworth and the
Mercury Sprint at Clairwood over his favoured distance of 1200m. In
both races he finished behind Jet Master, which in itself, was no mean
feat.
The most notable progeny to
date is Silent Screen.
Lavery is a son of Royal
Academy, who won amongst others the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Mile at
Belmont Park in Kentucky (USA) and the Grade 1 July Sprint
over 1200m at Newmarket (UK).
On the dam side Lady Donna
only raced as a two year old where she won one race and managed a third place in
the Grade 3 Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood (UK) over 1000m.
